A few days ago, I passed my exam and officially became a Certified Wellness Coach.
Just writing that feels a bit surreal. This moment has been a long time coming — and the path to get here has been anything but linear. But when I received my certification, I felt a deep sense of alignment, like everything in my life had gently (and sometimes not-so-gently) nudged me in this direction.
I want to share a bit of that journey with you — not just because I’m celebrating, but because I know someone reading this might still be in their “figuring it out” season. And if that’s you, I see you.
The Detours That Taught Me
My journey into the world of professional health and wellness started years ago. A friend once asked me to go grocery shopping with her, and I quickly realized that something I did instinctively and out of habit was actually a skill set that could help someone else I cared about.
I’ve always wanted the best health for the people around me, but no one had ever asked for my guidance — and out of fear of judgment, I never offered.
Not long after that, my entrepreneurial wheels started turning, and I began researching the possibility of a career in nutrition. Around that same time, I enrolled in a personal training and nutrition coaching program simultaneously (because, honestly, the sales lady was really good at her job).
Looking back, I believe the personal training program didn’t work out because it wasn’t what I truly wanted. I was passionate about nutrition — about helping others eat better so they could feel better. I’ve always been fascinated by food as medicine and the power of what we put on our plate.
I learned a lot in the nutrition coaching program, but even then, something was still missing. I didn’t just want to talk about what people were eating. I wanted to understand why they were eating that way. I wanted to dig into the whole person — their mind, their stress, their emotions, their sleep, their self-talk.
Because at my core, wellness — deep, whole-person wellness — is what matters most to me.
The Pause I Didn’t Choose
Recently, life handed me an unexpected pause.
Not long ago, I had a sudden health scare that landed me in the hospital for several days. It was something completely out of my control, and for someone like me — who has always leaned into biohacking, prevention, and optimization — it was a tough pill to swallow.
I couldn’t “hack” my way out of it. I couldn’t green smoothie, supplement, or mindset-shift my way through. I had to rest. I had to surrender. I had to be still.
And in that stillness, I realized how little compassion I’d been giving myself in my pursuit of “health.” I saw, in a new light, how so many of us are pushing, striving, doing all the “right” things — but still feeling disconnected, anxious, or unwell.
That experience softened me. It opened me. It reminded me of what wellness truly means: not perfection, but presence. Not control, but care. Not just action, but awareness.
Coming Home to Coaching
Almost a year ago, I made the decision to pursue wellness coaching professionally. As an author, wellness has always been a common theme in my books — and I knew that becoming a wellness coach was another piece of the puzzle. It was an opportunity to stay the course, not just in my own journey, but to become accredited in helping others along theirs.
Unlike the other roles I’d explored, the role of Certified Wellness Coach felt like home.
Wellness coaching allowed me to integrate everything I’ve ever loved — nutrition, movement, mental health, mindfulness — and offer it in a way that supports the whole human. I studied behavior change, emotional resilience, nervous system regulation, sustainable habit-building — and how to walk alongside someone on their own unique path to healing.
Passing my certification exam wasn’t just a checkbox — it was a moment of becoming. And while I’m so proud of the title, I’m even more grateful for the journey that shaped me into the kind of coach I want to be: one who listens deeply, leads gently, and believes that everyone has the ability to feel well in their mind, body, and spirit.
If You’re Craving Real Wellness…
I’ve quietly been building something close to my heart: The Mindful Wellness Journey Program.
It’s a gentle, supportive coaching experience designed to help you cultivate sustainable, nourishing habits — from the inside out. Whether you’re feeling off balance, overwhelmed, or simply ready to reconnect with yourself, this program was made for the real you — not the one trying to be perfect.
I haven’t always had things figured out. But I’ve come a long way. And with my lived experience, training, and a heart full of compassion, I’d be honored to walk alongside you as you find your own version of well.
Final Mindful Thoughts
Becoming a Certified Wellness Coach wasn’t the beginning of my journey — it was a beautiful milestone along a path that’s been winding, humbling, and deeply personal.
To anyone out there still searching for their “thing,” still recovering, still growing — I want you to know: you’re not behind. You’re becoming.
And if I can support you on that path, it would be my honor.
